Mold Damage Emergency Services
The most important thing to remember about mold is that it is an indicator of another problem in a building in order for mold to grow there needs to be a food source(building materials) and the presence of water where it shouldn't be.
Mold damage requiring remediation and clean-up results from water in one of four major causes in homes and businesses;
1. There was a previous water loss and the building was not properly dried. This could be from a broken pipe, a water heater, an air conditioner, a sprinkler system, a hole in the roof or any other cause of a significant amount of water entering rapidly and then not being dried properly.
2. There is an ongoing slow leak from part of the plumbing system.
3. The water is entering from outside through an entry point an example would be an improperly sealed window or an area with improper drainage where standing water erodes through the foundation into the building.
4. The building has too much humidity inside of it resulting in the air being saturated enough that mold growth can occur throughout the building.
For mold remediation and clean-up, we follow the protocols set by an industrial hygienist or environmental engineer if they have already come out and prepared a protocol. While performing a mold remediation everyone entering the contained area must wear PPE which includes mask gloves and suit. Do not enter the area with out them and do not remove the barriers put in place as the mold could spread to the rest of the building creating a much larger problem.
